Long have I yearned to forge an end grain cutting board, and now the time has dawned to bring this vision to life. With the scraps bequeathed by my nephew, I crafted a stock board to commence this noble endeavor. Recall, if you will, the board of yore which I transformed into a woodworking mallet. From that board, I carved slices of 1 1/4 inches across, and thus did I glue the new slices into a renewed board stock.

When the adhesive had set, I smoothed the front and back upon the CNC, employing the meticulous dance of the back-and-forth milling pattern and the pocket milling pattern. Yet, even these methods left their marks upon the surface. Sanding then rendered the front and back as smooth as a polished gem, and each side was cut to square the stock. Secured to the waste board with double-sided tape and clamps, the juice groove was deftly milled into the board.

With the groove and handle slots etched into being, the edges were rounded using the mini router station. And so, the cutting board was re-sanded, and a final coat of Walrus Oil was lovingly applied. The labor bore fruit, and the project was wrought splendidly.
